The aim of this training course is primarily to support the development of programmes for spontaneous adverse reaction (ADR) reporting and to give an introduction to other methodologies.

Profile
Health care professionals, e.g. physicians, pharmacists, nurses, who have recently become
engaged or soon will become engaged in the practical operation of pharmacovigilance
programmes in a hospital, regulatory, university or industry setting.
Teaching staff Members of the staff of the Uppsala Monitoring Centre, the Swedish National Adverse Reaction
Monitoring Centre and other international pharmacovigilance experts will function as lecturers, instructors and discussion leaders throughout the course.
Methods Theoretical parts include lectures, group discussions and poster presentations; practical sessions include recording of case information and computerised retrieval of information from the database of the WHO Drug Monitoring Programme.

Course fee

Module I 2-10 May 21,000 SEK
Module II 11-13 May 9,000 SEK
The course fee includes VAT, accommodation for the period of the course (1-14 May), breakfast,
lunches, beverages and snacks during breaks, professional lecturers and documentation.
Accommodation costs accounts for around a third of the course fee. Airfare, per diem and health insurance are the responsibility of each participant or sponsoring organization.

Scholarship Regrettably no fellowships are available for the 2011 course and the UMC is not able to provide
funding or waive the course fee for any participant. Regional Offices of WHO will be advised of this course and may be helpful in financially supporting qualified individuals.
