Global Health is a new discipline
that integrates knowledge and experiences from different
disciplines such as public health, medicine, health economy,
environmental medicine, anthropology and behavioural sciences.
Global health focuses in identifying and assessing the
global challenges in the public health field. The overarching
aim is to contribute to a reduction of the global burden
of disease. Global health contributes a new arena for
research, education and information related to the health
challenges facing the global population.
Research in Global Health is multi disciplinary in orientation
with three important pillars: public health, clinical
research and translational research.
The focus is distribution and determinants of health,
diseases and injuries in populations with different social,
economic and cultural characteristics. |

Objectives/
Content |

The Master programme gives
students in-depth knowledge of a broad and expanding biomedical
field, specialised in creating new, advanced skills in
improving the treatment of disease.
The programme provides a solid platform for independent
research and the application of new knowledge in the molecular
medicine field in order to help students develop future
methods of diagnosis and treatment, particularly for the
most common, major diseases.
Karolinska Institutet (KI) is one of the world's foremost
universities in the biomedical field. The Master programme
in biomedicine is a research-orientated degree course
held in close association with eminent research environments.
The course focuses on basal biological knowledge and
how it is used to propel medical developments forward.
The first part offers a general, advanced biomedical base.
Students may then take a personal line of inquiry to probe
more deeply into one of KI's programme areas for research
or a particular aspect of the pharmaceutical industry
by taking electives and running independent projects. |
