The Stephen Lawrence Inquiry Report and Race Relations Amendment Act 2000 re-established the importance of the multicultural context of contemporary public service delivery on the political agenda. However, professionals and practitioners can be left with feelings of unease in the face of the challenges presented by cultural diversity. By drawing on the disciplines of philosophy and anthropology, the course seeks to exploit the full opportunities of these challenges by offering participants the context within which to develop skills of analysis and extended reflection. The MA Ethics and Cultural Diversity in Health offers the opportunity for current and past practitioners, primarily from both social work and health work, to discuss and develop common themes and values which relate to the ethical dimensions of their work in a multicultural context. The course employs a variety of learning and assessment techniques, these include: lectures, seminars, essays, presentations and dissertation work.
