ASTMH has developed this course as an update
in the essential components of tropical medicine and travelers’
health. This course will be held immediately preceding
the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) Annual
Meeting in Philadelphia.
ASTMH offers a Certificate Examination that assesses
and recognizes individual excellence in training and knowledge.
Passing the examination leads to a Certificate of Knowledge
in Clinical Tropical Medicine and Travelers’ Health
(CTropMed®). The next exam open for application will
take place on November 2, 2010, in conjunction with the
ASTMH 59th Annual Meeting, to be held November 3-7, 2010,
in Atlanta, Georgia USA.
After participating in this educational activity, the
attendee should be better able to:
1. Prepare patients for overseas travel to developing
countries.
2. Diagnose and treat individuals who have become ill
during overseas travel or residence.
3. Diagnose and treat individuals living in the tropics
and sub-tropics who are ill. |

The mandate of the global health subsection within ASTMH
will focus on globalization's impact on health, health disparities
and global health partnerships.

partnering/core curricula, academic competencies and models
of partnered research and service
* Non-communicable diseases and chronic health problems
of the developing world

2,400 people to attend the ASTMH 58th Annual Meeting.
These attendees work in the tropical medicine and hygiene
