This training course focuses on enhancing the capacities of senior-level actors, policy makers and managers working in HIV/AIDS issues in the region on gender and policy issues. It consists of familiarising participants with key gender policy concepts and the sharing of information and experiences on HIV issues.

The course seeks to develop strategies for addressing gender gaps within policy programmes for more effective gender progressive interventions. The course is divided into 8 modules.

Sexual and reproductive health programmes in Africa are indeed influenced by international economic policies despite the fact that many a times, reproductive health is not always seen as a priority in national level listings. A wealth of data and relevant information that can be used for policy development exists with various sexual and reproductive health providers, realising that the ability to enlist collective support to move recommended solutions into policy and action,is of paramount importance.

Knowledge and skills to undertake this important step at times lacks. This is where the CAFS course comes in,undertaking to fill the gap. Advocacy has become a requesite for all sector players in the continent. As competition for scarce resources increases, advocacy skills become important tool in the decision making regarding resource allocation.
