Objectives/
Content |

Mainly Medical - Both primary and secondary, community and hospital
based, including paediatrics, infectious and tropical diseases,
nutrition, midwifery, family planning, dermatology, community medicine,
IT, health education, ophthalmology, hospital management.
Mainly Surgical - General surgery, trauma, wounds, fractures, orthopaedics,
obstetrics and gynaecology, anaesthetics, physiotherapy, dentistry
and ENT.
Spiritual Refreshment – Prayers each morning are lead by either
lecturers, staff or participants. In the evenings , participants
have the opportunity to share their medical experiences with the
whole group which adds to the learning experience and sense of Christian
fellowship. The day then ends with a short epilogue
Member Care — Dealing with personal issues, such as coping
with stress, avoiding burnout and re-entry |

The Course itself is free to those working overseas in resource
poor countries. The only costs will incur are those for board and
lodging, charged by Oak Hill College, which are £360 per person
for those attending the whole course or £32 per person per
day for those who only attend part of the course. |

- To promote standards of excellence in holistic healthcare
for those working in resource poor countries.
- To enable healthcare practitioners to explore new
and current knowledge relating to clinical practice
relevant to work in resource poor countries and to enhance
their ability to share and teach these insights.
- To improve current clinical skills and develop new
ones relevant to working in resource poor countries.
- To explore personal and professional issues, including
making provision for CPD and to encourage personal growth,
development and well being.
- To provide spiritual refreshment, encouragement and
mutual support.

sense) relevant to working in resource poor countries.
- Enhanced practical skills related to the many specialities
covered on the course especially during the Paediatric,
Surgical and Obstetric workshops.
- An increased working knowledge of managerial and teaching
skills.
- An increased awareness of the interrelation of culture
and healthcare.

Lectures, discussions, Problem
based learning, Case Studies, Practical Workshops, Demonstrations,
PLUS - the interaction of participants from different
nations and cultures. |
| Structure |
|
Four strands are woven into
the programme. The first week covers mainly Medical topics
while the second week is mainly Surgical. Spiritual refreshment
is provided in the times of morning and evening prayer
and mutual sharing. Issues related to Member Care are
also explored during the programme. |

fee |
|
The course is free to mission
partners working in less developed countries - subsidised
by the CMF and the fact that our lecturers provide their
services free of charge.
Oak Hill College, however, make a charge to cover the cost
of board and lodging and the use of their amenities. Their
charges in 2007 will be £510 per person for those
in residence and attending the whole course. A charge of
£270 will be made for those who wish to attend for
just one of the weeks (Monday - Friday). |
