Learning at London’s
global university: Our MSc in Global Health &
Development gets bigger and better. Now drawing on UCL’s
research and teaching excellence from across the university’s
departments, our MSc in Global Health & Development
aims to transform your ideas about global health and to
expose you to a wide range of relevant perspectives and
debates about the world today. UCL, London’s research
and teaching powerhouse, is ranked in the top ten universities
worldwide (THES–QS 2007) and in the top three multifaculty
universities in the UK. Our MSc in Global Health &
Development draws on UCL’s cross-disciplinary strengths,
under the umbrellas of our UCL Institute for Global Health
and our UCL Grand Challenges.
A new approach: In rich and poor countries
alike, the gross inequalities in people’s health
are not simply a product of their individual choices.
They are determined by people’s place in society
and the environment in which they find themselves. Today’s
global health challenges require a coordinated response
from all parts of society and all academic disciplines.
They demand a new approach in research and teaching, which
explores health within its broader development context.
Our MSc in Global Health & Development addresses
issues that are both important for today’s developing
countries and common to the whole world. Climate change,
economic crisis and poor governance, for example, have
profound health effects. Policymakers, health professionals
and others concerned with global health need the intellectual
tools to understand them.
Our MSc in Global Health & Development will challenge
you to understand the complex forces that shape health
worldwide, from the household to the global level, with
the opportunity to craft a programme of study well-suited
to your needs. It will enable you to become a better global
health practitioner wherever you work in the world.
