Requirements To be admitted to the Master’s Program, an applicant must have a recognized university degree (or equivalent such as the Diploma Advanced Nursing). Applicants with extensive involvement or a strategic position in Community Based Development or Service Management or Delivery are given preference.
Structure The course is organized into eight core clusters based on a credit system. Each cluster may be taken independently when convenient for the student, in terms of ability to pay and time off from duty. Students are required to take the eight clusters offered in Blocks I and II. Elective courses are offered as indicated in Block III and can be taken as is required by students. These courses are required only for students pursuing a Master in Community Health and Development (MCHD) degree.
Methods - Discussion -Demonstrations - Field visits and exercises - Laboratory practice - Lectures - On-the-job training and coaching in work situations during follow-up / supervisory visits.
Cooperation

The University has exchange programs both for student and staff with the University of Amsterdam, University of Ottawa in Canada, Cheng’ Kum Taiwan Free State University in South Africa, Universite' Libre Des Pays Des Grand Lacs (ULPGL) in Goma, (DRC), University of Cape Town (UCT), John Hopkins University, University of Western Sydney, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, University of Nairobi, Moi University, Kenya Methodist University, Kenyatta University, the University Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD), Dakar, Makerere University, Jimma University in Ethiopia, University of Dar-es-salaam, Kwazulu Natal and Emory University, Galilee in Israel.

Scholarship The Institute is currently unable to offer scholarships for tuition and/or accommodation to students. Students who receive funding from external donors channeled through the Institute for the period of their study are provided with a basic living allowance of Ksh 15,000 per month if they opt to manage their own accommodation and meals.
Accommodation Accommodation at the Institute is optional. However, students wishing to stay at the Institute will pay $3,000 USD per year full board, in addition to the tuition fees
