Admission to the programme is based on academic merit and potential for leadership. Merit will be evaluated through scholastic achievement of applicants and their perfomance in the AKU-MSc HPM Admission Test. Leadership potential will be assessed on the basis interviews, past experience and future plans. Appplicants from the public or private sector from Pakistan and overseas may apply. A high academic score in any single discipline or any outstandig achievemnt alons is not suffiecient for selection.

Admission to the MSc Epidemiology and Biostatistics programme is based on merit and proven commitment to public health. Merit will be evaluated through scholastic achievements and performance in the AKU MSc Epidemiology and Biostatistics Admission Test. Commitment of the applicant will be assessed on the basis of interviews, past experience and future plans. Applicants in the public or private sector from Pakistan and overseas may apply. The objective of the PhD programme is to produce independent researchers, teachers and leaders with
the following skills:
a) Strong academic background (through course work)
b) State-of-the-art experimental approach (through research work)
c) Analytical skills (through writing a thesis)
d) Leadership (through role modeling and a conducive environment)

This programme offers advanced courses and research in the basic medical sciences as well as in the cellular and molecular biology of cancer, infectious diseases, nutrition, cardiovascular disorders, metabolic diseases, neurosciences and molecular genetics.

Through the PhD programme, the University will train independent researchers, teachers and leaders and equip them with strong academic background through coursework, expose them to state-of-the-art experimental approaches through research work, develop analytical skills through writing a thesis, and develop leadership skills through role modelling in a conducive environment at AKU.

Candidates with at least one year of working experience in a biomedical field who have any of the following qualificationsmay apply:

• AMasters degree in one of the biological sciences;
• An MBBS or DVM degree;
• A four-year bachelor ’s degree or equivalent in a biological science including pharmacy.

The objective is to prepare advanced practice nurses who will develop innovative, practical solutions to complex health problems from a scientific perspective. Nursing practice in both rural and urban areas will be emphasised with the student selecting their speciality area of advanced practice. Applicants in the public or private sector who have two years full time experience in nursing,
throughout Pakistan and overseas may apply.
Following are the eligibility criteria for application to the direct MScN programme:
• Successful completion of BScN;
• Current RN licensure in Pakistan or equivalent;
OR
Candidates who do not possess a BScN but have a BSc/BA/BCom (general academic programme) may also apply. They will be considered on a provisional basis and will be required to successfully complete an additional one year Transition Programme.
Government employees will be given provisional admission, pending relevant NOC before the first day of school.
