Objectives/
Content |
|
The MPH programme is an integrated
theory-practice curriculum that allows students to achieve
professional public health competency. It provides broad
public health perspectives and skills necessary to assume
effective leadership in public health practice, reflecting
the three domains of health improvement, health protection
and health service quality.
Core Courses:
1. Foundations of Public Health
2. Epidemiology I
3. Biostatistics I
4. Health Policy and Management
5. Environmental Health Sciences I
6. Environmental Health Sciences II
7. Sociomedical (Behavioural) Sciences
The core courses of the MPH are equivalents to the required
courses of Postgraduate Diploma in Health Services Management
& Public Health.
Concentration Areas
16 units from any of the following:

1. Epidemiology & Biostatistics
Health Protection
2. Infectious Diseases
3. Occupational Health
Health Services
4. Gerontology and Geriatrics
5. Health Services Management

The target candidates are health
professionals, administrators, nurses, veterinarians, academics,
teachers, social workers and researchers who are committed
to protecting and improving the health of communities. |
| Requirements |
|
Bachelor´s Honours Degree
or Bacheolor´s degree in medicine or an approved health
related field |
| Structure |
|
A total of at least 36 credit
units must be accumulated from the programme’s core,
concentration areas and electives courses for conferment
of the MPH degree. Students are required to take 16 units
of the core courses; 16 units from the concentration areas,
including either a practicum or selected project work depending
on area of concentration; and 4 units from accepted electives
for the concentration areas. |
