The School of Health Services Administration offers a Master of Health Services Administration (MHSA) program which meets the needs of those pursuing administrative careers in the Canadian health care delivery system. The program is designed to prepare individuals for careers in hospital administration, nursing administration, long term care administration, public and community health administration, and administration in regional, provincial, and federal governments in health and health-related areas. There are employment opportunities for individuals with an MHSA are in policy, planning, evaluation, administration, and research.

Requirements Applicants must have completed or be about to complete a bachelor's degree with a minimum of B+ average. Candidates must satisfy the general requirements for admission to the Faculty of Graduate Studies. Admission is based on an assessment of professional experience, previous academic work, letters of reference, GMAT, and TOEFL for foreign students.

The program provides a conceptual background for the increasingly complex managerial tasks that need to be performed in health institutions, agencies, and health-related government departments. Every effort is made to balance political, social, economic, cultural, medical, and ethical approaches to understanding the health care delivery system with those of the management sciences.

The Diploma in Health Services Administration (DHSA) programme is designed to prepare students for a career in health care at the managerial level. It meets the needs of those currently employed in the health care sector in a managerial capacity, particularly, middle managers in medium and large institutions, administrators in small facilities, and employees in community health, long-term care, primary care, multi-service centres, and community health boards.

The School of Health Services Administration offers an undergraduate diploma programme in Emergency Health Services Management. The programme meets the need for an educational programme for mid-career, managers working in the Emergency Health Services system in Canada.
