An
anderer Akteure. |

soziale Entwicklungsprozesse. Sie schärfen Ihren
Blick für die an internationale Fachkräfte gerichteten
Erwartungen. Wie mit Widerständen umgehen, wie mit
Klientelsystemen oder Korruption? Wie können Sie
in Ihre Arbeit partizipative Ansätze integrieren?
Sie erhöhen Ihre Handlungs- und Beratungskompetenz
auf dem Gebiet. |

The basic information about
HIV and AIDS is presented in five basic modules. Each
module
contains two to four lectures and each lecture may be
subdivided into several lessons. The topics of the modules
are as follows:
• Module 1: Global and national features of the
HIV and AIDS pandemic
• Module 2: Basic science of HIV
• Module 3: Managing of patients with HIV-related
diseases
• Module 4: Causes and impact of HIV and AIDS
• Module 5: The global and national responses
The course concludes with a face-to-face workshop. The
aim of this workshop is not only to clarify open questions,
but also to apply the lessons learned online. The workshop
will discuss experiences of HIV and AIDS project planning
in line with international standards. In order to make
it more lively and practical, participants are grouped
according to thematic or regional interests and will develop
their own comprehensive and multisectoral HIV and AIDS
project. It is hoped that the results of this work will
later be applied in reality and find appropriate support.

Participants'
Profile |
|
This online course is designed
for both physicians and health professionals. Participation
can be fruitful for those who have little experience in
HIV and need to know more about basic facts of HIV and AIDS,
but also for those who have already some experience in treatment,
care and support and want to know more about international
experiences and best practices. Central to the pedagogical
design of the course is the sharing of experience and dialogue
among participants and facilitator. |
| Structure |
|
A 1-day start-up seminar (planned
in the capital of each country) will precede the start of
the course. During this introduction participants will have
the chance to familiarise themselves with the online environment
and its various communication tools and get to know the
other
participants. In the following online introduction of 10
days the participants have to take part in the short course
"Fit for Global Campus 21".
The e-learning phase is then comprised of five modules,
which are to be completed consecutively. Two case scenarios
are presented to the participants. In the first scenario
participants can follow the story of a young Cameroonian
physician with little experience in HIV who is employed
by a forestry enterprise and has to develop an HIV and AIDS
workplace policy for the company. In the second scenario
participants are guided through the course by the example
of an experienced district health professional who required
to develop a comprehensive homebased care programme in rural
Tanzania. The case scenarios accompany the study of the
five basic modules, each of which ends with exercises, tasks
and assignments. Participants will only be allowed to access
a new module when they have completed the preceding one.
Each course module is designed to run over a three/four-week
period and will take ten hours
to complete, plus one hour of discussion at the end in chat
mode. Following the online phase, a five-day face-toface
workshop will be held in Dar-es- Salaam/Tanzania in April
2011. Here,
participants will design projects that put into practice
what they have learned during the elearning phase. |

Hospitals play a decisive
role in a state heath care system. In many areas effective
hospital care is crucial, including maternity care, treatment
of common childhood illness, malaria, HIV/AIDS, etc. However,
the quality and availability of hospitals services are
limited in many countries, as are management efficiency
and effectiveness, and the standards of buildings and
equipment. In this sense, strategies directed towards
reforming the hospital sector are intimately linked to
achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
Current reform projects on hospital sector reorganisation
are aimed at improving the quality and effectiveness of
clinical access and securing the financial sustainability
of hospital services, for example, by introducing local
and country-wide health insurance. Reforming the health
and hospital sector can only succeed if the key positions
in hospital management are filled in the most effective
way. These challenges require training top-level managers
in the skills most needed in hospital management.
On completion of the course, participants will be able
to:
* Understand and apply resource management concepts (personnel,
finance, and material resources) and the processes and
strategies needed in specific hospital sectors
* Communicate effectively and develop their leadership
and teambuilding abilities
* Apply modern change management and innovation management
concepts to optimise structures
* Analyse existing hospital service policies and enhance
their alignment within the local and national context.
