Content |

Public health decisions have
consequences that go beyond national borders. The control
of infectious diseases and chronic impairments, the impact
of poverty on health, the availability of resources for
public health and health care services are determinants
of health systems which must be understood in a global
context.
Women and men are affected by these determinants in different
ways. How can health systems be structured to meet the
needs of both genders and to guarantee gender equality
in health, health care and prevention? A special responsibility
stands before the rich countries of the world to further
global development and qualification needs, to initiate
inter-cultural exchange, and to promote gender equalities
in health.
The Charité wants to accommodate these needs. In
the study program "Health & Society: International
Gender Studies Berlin" students will be trained to
cope with these challenges and to gender mainstream health
systems.
Study Modules:
Health in various cultural contexts
Living conditions of women and men in differing societies
and their impact on health
Diseases and health risks
Reproductive health in an intercultural context
Health care systems and services
