Since 2003, Global Health Action
has offered regular Design, Management, and Evaluation (DM&E)
courses in Africa. To date, there have been more than 20
DM&E courses, which have trained health professionals,
program managers, and community leaders from 30 African
countries. Annual courses designed for English- or French-speakers
have been held in Kenya, Ghana, and Senegal, with other
countries scheduled for coming years. The course covers
the fundamental concepts and tools for developing, managing,
and sustaining HIV/AIDS programs. The course addresses
four interrelated topics:
- Leadership and management of social change organizations
- Program planning and project design, with a focus
on HIV/AIDS program
- Proposal writing
- Project monitoring and evaluation
Course participants acquire knowledge and skills that
are applicable to existing or newly-designed projects
or programs. The course also specifically addresses the
challenges and factors that influence the success of Africa-based
programs and projects. |

One price covers course tuition, the training manual, all
hand-outs and educational tools, and transportation for
local site visits, as well as lunch, and morning and afternoon
snack breaks for all ten days of the course. The price also

Global Health Action is
offering an international course in China to provide an
opportunity for participants from Africa, Asia and the
Pacific, and other parts of the world to share country
experiences from different continents in order to strengthen
South-South collaboration for the implementation of effective
HIV/AIDS and reproductive health programs.
Objectives: At the end of the training,
participants will be able to:
* Employ effective leadership, management, and communication
skills
* Plan, organize, and conduct needs assessments and strategic
planning
* Use international best practice lessons to guide program
design and management
* Develop and carry out sound approaches to program monitoring
and evaluation
* Develop and implement an action plan for a community-based
or population-based reproductive health and/or HIV/AIDS
