This is a part-time, distance e-learning
course delivered online via the RGU Virtual Learning Environment.
It provides considerable flexibility for learners, enabling
busy practitioners to undertake the programme from home
or their workplace. Short compulsory residential periods
are incorporated to enable the development and assessment
of skills in relation to Care Planning (5 days) and Health
Services Research (3 days).
This course provides students with a broad education in
Clinical Pharmacy, equipping them with the necessary knowledge
and skills to enhance their career. It aims to enable
students to acquire the cognitive, interpersonal, psychomotor
and analytical skills necessary for competent, reflective
practice and lifelong professional development for their
working life. |

An undergraduate honours degree in pharmacy from a UK university, or overseas equivalent, and one year post-registration experience or in consultation with the course leader. Overseas students are required to demonstrate proficiency in the English language. The following qualifications are acceptable as evidence: IELTS Overall band score of 6.5 or better; TOEFL Score of 570 or better (230 or better on computer-based TOEFL).
To study on the virtual campus, students must ensure that they have the following:
- Access to a computer (PC or Mac)
- Internet broadband connection, although a minimum of 56kbps modem connection is acceptable (usually done through a modem and an Internet Service Provider)
- A web browser (The preferred browser is Internet Explorer 5 or greater. Netscape Navigator Version 4.7 is also supported for PC users only. Mac users must have Internet explorer 5.

The course is multi-professional and designed for progressive practitioners to develop expertise in areas relating to prescribing science including therapeutics, public health, physical assessment and advanced patient consultation skills. This course is designed primarily for UK practitioners and offers a number of advantages over a traditional clinical pharmacy course.
Aims: This course provides students with a broad education in prescribing practice to equip them with the knowledge and skills required to enhance their career and contribute effectively in professional roles. It is designed in collaboration with employers to ensure excellent career prospects in both hospital and community practice. The course differs from the MSc Clinical Pharmacy in that it includes comprehensive coverage of public health, as it relates to prescribing, and aspects of the consultation process. |

This new course has been
designed in response to the global recognition of obesity
as a disease. As obesity is a multi-factorial disease,
a multidisciplinary approach to the professional management
of obesity is required. The course will address a variety
of aspects associated with obesity, such as societal influences,
socio-economic inequalities and the impact on public health.
Students will gain an in depth knowledge of intra- and
inter-professional issues relevant to weight management
and will develop a critical understanding of concepts
and controversies in obesity management through both scientific
and clinical approaches. Graduates will also acquire transferable
skills that will enable them to work in a multidisciplinary
environment such local authorities, community and government
projects, teaching and research. |

This course is a Postgraduate Diploma for Overseas Pharmacists which has been accredited by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) as fulfilling their requirements as an OSPAP. This programme has been specifically designed for pharmacists from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) and it focuses upon modern pharmaceutical practice in the UK.
The programme has been designed for pharmacists holding an overseas first degree and therefore focuses upon new developments in key pharmaceutical sciences, clinical pharmacy and pharmacy practice together with the study of health service delivery and pharmacy law and ethics within the UK.

- Legislation and Professional Studies
- Advanced Sciences in Professional Practice
- Pharmaceutical Public Health
- Prescribing Sciences
Experiential placements are integral to the delivery of the OSPAP and are embedded in the Pharmaceutical Care, Prescribing Sciences and the Legislation and Professional Studies modules. The placements are hosted in a variety of settings including community pharmacy, and primary and secondary care settings. Placements are designed to provide a range of learning experiences with patients and health professionals and allow the students to integrate academic studies with real life practice.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Overseas Pharmacists Assessment Programme is only available to qualified pharmacists from other countries that have been given permission by the adjudicating committee of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. You cannot apply directly for a place on the course; the Royal Pharmaceutical Society must confirm your eligibility for the programme and thereafter you will be informed of current UK OSPAP providers. |

This new course, the only one of its kind in the UK, has been specifically designed to address the recent significant changes that have taken place in health and social care. It is now recognised at national level that the delivery of health improvement and health promotion is complex and should involve all sectors. The devolution of health back to a community level has led to significant changes in the delivery of health and social care which has resulted in different workforce training and development requirements. The course will provide those working in health, health improvement, community health partnerships, local authority, social care and the voluntary sectors with a professional qualification that will enhance their career prospects and broaden their understanding and skills in health improvement and health promotion.
Aims: To prepare students for a professional career in health improvement and health promotion working in a range of organisations and settings in health, social care and the voluntary sector.
Curriculum: The overall programme consists of 8 modules:
1. Health Improvement and Health Promotion: Principles and Concepts: 30 SCQF Credits
2. Social Policy: 15 SCQF credits
3. The Principles of Behaviour Change: 15 SCQF credits
